Meetings with high school students
About twenty years ago we started organising meetings with high school students. The members of our Society and professors from University of Silesia talk about interesting topics in mathematics, which, for various reasons, were cut from the high school programme. Students and teachers are also sincerely invited.
The meetings, during which members of the Society give talks for high school students, take place every two weeks on Fridays at 4 p.m. Main addressees of the talks are high school students and exceptional pupils from the lower grades of education. Various topics are covered.
Some months ago we organised Mathematical Circle, which met on Saturdays. Participants, supervised by one of our members, solved problems from various competitions and olympiads. Now classed are hanged - but approximately once every two weeks we meet and solve various interesting problems from mathematical competitions. The meetings are held under the tutelage of dr Tomasz Kochanek, SMS' tutor. All high school students interested in mathematical olympiad are cordially invited.
The lectures are held during the academic year in the Institute of Mathematics of Silesian University, Bankowa 14, Katowice, in the room 213 (Aula Kopernika). All the activities are of course free of charge.
We are looking forward to see on our next meeting!ATTENTION You can receive information about lectures directly by email - you just have to subscribe to our
